NieR: Automata เกมส์ Pc ACT RPG แบบ Open World จาก Sqaure Enix กล่าวถึงโลกหลังยุคสงคราม ซึ่งเป็นเหตุการณ์ต่อจาก NieR ภาคแรกในฉากจบแบบที่ 4 ซึ่งโลกจะเต็มไปด้วยซากปรักหักพัง และไม่ค่อยหลงเหลือสิ่งมีชีวิต ผู้เล่นภาคนี้จะรับบทเป็นหุ่นยนต์แอนดรอยด์ YoRHa No. 2 Model B หรือเรียกสั้นๆว่า 2B ต่อสู้กับพวกหุ่นยนต์ผู้รุกรานจากต่างดาว ระบบการเล่นจะเน้นการต่อสู้แบบแอคชั่นเต็มรูปแบบ ให้ผู้เล่นวิ่ง โจมตี และหลบ ด้วยตัวเอง โดยผสานระบบเกมแบบ RPG เข้าไปซึ่งจะคล้ายกับเกม Drakengard ที่เป็นผลงานเกมอีกซีรี่ส์ของทีมสร้างเกมนี้ แต่ธีมจะต่างไปโดยเกม NieR: Automata จะเน้นอาวุธแนวยุคอนาคต มีทั้งอาวุธประชิดและปืนต่างๆ ส่วนแอคชั่นการต่อสู้นั้นได้ทีม Platinum Games (อดีตทีมสร้าง Devil May Cry) มาช่วยทำให้การต่อสู้เร้าใจมากขึ้น
